THE TEACHING STAFF
Meet the teaching staff at St Leo's Catholic School
Mary Kedzlie M.TchLn, B.Ed, Dip.Tchg, TTC Principal
I have been principal at St. Leo's since July 2004 and can honestly say that it is a privilege to be the lead learner of this very special school. In 2008 I was conferred with my masters qualification having researched the Reggio Emilia approach to learning. This gave me a great opportunity to see how Reggio Emilia fits so well with the Catholic Character of our school.
In my spare time I try keep in touch with family and I love doing so down at my bach in the Coromandel. I am working hard at improving my golf and I also enjoy travelling to new places in both New Zealand and overseas.
Jane Pryor Dip. Tchg St Catherine’s Room (NE/Y1) Lead teacher: Maths
I have lived in Devonport for 16 years and have raised my 4 children here. I love our village of Devonport passionately! I am a keen advocate for enviroschools and lead this initiative within the school. I teach new entrants and year 1's at St Leo's and really believe that these first few years lay the foundation for learning in the years to come.
Adrienne Williams Dip. Tchg St. Lukes Room (Y2)
I have a great love for St Leos - not only have I taught in the junior school for the last 13 years but all my 3 (now grown up!) children went to school here. I am a real fan of the Reggio Emilia approach and take great pleasure discovering the special talents of every child in my classroom. Out of school I am a keen fitness fanatic and also enjoy going for walks up Mt Victoria with my dog, Toby.

I am married with 3 grown up children and 6 (soon to be 7) grandchildren. I grew up in Dunedin and since leaving there I have lived and worked in many towns and cities around N.Z. I think St Leo’s is a great school and I really enjoy teaching there.
Maxine Cunliffe MA, Dip. Tchg St. Dominics' Room (Y4/5) Director of Religious Studies
I taught in the UK for 15 years before moving to New Zealand 7 years ago with my husband and two girls, both of whom have been through St Leo's. I have a degree in music and a masters in French and media and my passion outside of school is playing in orchestras. Our family have loved the move to Devonport and I have found St Leo's a wonderful school to teach at.
Mrs Amanda Pasley Dip. Tchg St Francis' Room (Y5/6) Lead Teacher: Literacy & Curriculum
I am Amanda Pasley. I am married with three children, my youngest attending St Leos's school and we have an adorable spoodle.
I have a Diploma and Certificate of Teaching and am also trained as a Reading Recovery teacher. Currently I am completing my Bachelor of Education specialising in teaching and learning to play the ukelele. I am passionate about the use of solo taxonomy in the classroom as I believe it enhances the ability for students to be reflective about their learning.
Mrs Julie Brewis TTC Part time and release teacher
I have had the pleasure of working part time at St. Leo's for the past five years. I have enjoyed working with the chldren and getting to know the many families over this period. Prior to having my two sons (one at Westlake, the other a Y6 at Birkenhead) I was Assistant Principal at Coatsville Primary. Since then I have worked in a number of schools on the North Shore as part-time and relief teacher. I have an interest in both sport and art and am lucky to be able to persue my art interests while in classes across the school.
