St Leo’s teams play in a large range of sports and have great success – particularly given our size!
Exact numbers of teams range from year to year depending on interest but sports available typically include:
Netball St Leo's has junior and senior teams in the local peninsula netball competion. Games are played at the Netball North Harbour Courts in Northcote. Netball is played during terms 2 and 3. Expressions of interest are usually sought toward the end of term 1.
Rippa Rugby North Harbour Rugby run an annual rippa rugby tournament during term 2 and St Leos always enters some very competitive teams. Typically there is a year 3/4 team and a year 5/6 team made up of both boys and girls. There are usually 2 or 3 tournament days during term time which the players (and parents!) enjoy greatly. Expressions of of interest are usually sought toward the end of term 1.

Miniball Miniball is children's basketball and is very popular at St Leo's. It is played on a weekday evening during term 2 and 3 at North Harbour Stadium - the "Breakers" home stadium to the children's great delight. Depending on interest, we often have a year 3/4 and a year 5/6 team. Expressions of interest are usually sought toward the end of term 1.

Hockey St Leo's enters the North Harbour junior hockey tournament. Junior hockey is a 6-a-side game and our teams are mixed with both boys and girls. Games are played on a weekday afternoon at the Albany hockey stadium. Expressions of interest are usually sought toward the end of term 1.
Soccer Many of our children play club based soccer during winter. St Leo's always enters teams into the the local Peninsula Schools soccer field days. Our teams always compete with eagerness and are very competetive!
Touch Teams from St Leo's compete in the annual Shark Sports touch rugby tournament which runs through term 4 on Monday evenings. Enrolment for touch rugby takes place towards the end of term 3. Depending on interest, we usually enter a junior, middle and senior school team. Our teams are mixed with boys and girls.
OTHER SPORTS
In addition to team sports, all students at St Leos have access to a number of other sporting activities including cross country, athletics, swimming and waterwise (see separate page) and Jump Jam.
We have an annual cross country day in Term 2 at Mt Cambria reserve and a school athletics day in Term 4 at North Shore Rugby grounds. Children then go on to compete in the Peninsula competitions. We also run a very popular Jump Jam program for children to exercise to music.
Most importantly, we encourage everyone to have a go!
