School Houses

On enrolment all pupils are placed into one of our four school houses -

  • Kowhai - gold
  • Pohutakawa - red
  • Kauri - green
  • Koromiko - blue

The house system is to encourage interaction between senior, middle and junior pupils and provides a platform for leadership skills to develop in our Year 6 pupils as they take up "house captain"  roles.  Families are grouped in the same houses.

In the spirit of house competition, there is a series of events planned between the houses including athletics, cross country, house sports day and a classroon competition.

Chhildren can earn (and lose!) poins for their house for a wide range of activities including:

  • returning newsletter slips (making an extra effort)
  • assisting each other, teachers, parent helpers (demonstrating consideration)
  • being well mannered and maintaining self control (good behaviour)
  • exhibiting house "spirit" (co-operation, reliability)
  • caring for class/school environment.
