Our Motto

     Nurture               |        Gracious           |      Excellence

The whole child             Mercy Values           No compromise

Nurture - The whole child

St Leo’s is a small caring Catholic school. We aim to educate the whole child and nurture all their diverse talents – academic, physical, spiritual, emotional and aesthetic.  In doing so, we use aspects of the Reggio Emilia approach to learning which focuses on the “100 languages of children”.

Gracious - Mercy Values

St Leo’s was founded by the Mercy Sisters in 1893.  The Mercy values of:

  • Justice (Tika)
  • Service (Manaakitanga)
  • Respect for Human Dignity (Te tapu o te tangata)
  • Compassion (Arohanui)
  • Care of the Poor and Vulnerable (Mana Whakahaere)

remain at the heart of our school.  We seek to instill these values in our students and actively uphold them in the every day life of the school.

Excellence - No compromise

St Leo’s has a long tradition of academic and sporting excellence which continues today. Our school offers small class sizes, innovative teaching programs and a commitment to digital learning.

While we are a small school, we set high expectations for all our students to achieve their very best.  We actively empower our students’ learning. There is no compromise on the aspiration of personal excellence.
