About Us

St. Leo’s is a small, friendly school set in beautiful grounds in the seaside suburb of Devonport, Auckland.

It is dedicated to delivering a quality education for diverse learners.

We have a history of success and high achievement and a dedicated staff who seek to promote excellence, foster individuality and create life-long learners.

Central to all learning is the school’s Special Catholic Character.

The school was founded in 1893 by the Sisters of Mercy.

It is the Mercy Charism which is the centre of the school.

At St. Leo’s we seek to demonstrate the Core Mercy Values in Education:
•    Justice;
•    Service;
•    Respect for Human dignity;
•    Compassion;
•    Care of the Poor and Vulnerable.

As well as a child-centred approach to teaching and learning, St Leo’s provides a safe and caring environment for children in Years 1-6.

We aim to nurture a sense of belonging; community; respect and responsibility.

We encourage children to be active, happy and engaged with their learning, their community, and their faith – truly reflecting the Spirit of St. Leo’s.
