Paint and Paper!

Today the painters arrived at school to begin the repaint of the existing school buildings. The first coat of colour was begun to be applied - the same Heritage colour will be used on the new buildings. It is looking much smarter already! At the same time on the building site, the first lot of building paper was put on the new classroom.

Good progress is being made!

Good progress is being made on our building project. The framing for the roof was completed during this week and over the next two weeks we can expect to see the roof cladding, windows and building wrapping put on, as well as starting the brick work. You can really get a feel now as to how the new buildings will look.

Framing is up

We have returned to school today to find that the framing of the classroom and new administration has begun to be put up. We can really see what size our buildings are going to be now! All very exciting!

The children enjoyed being able to play once again on the adventure playground in today's sunshine. They are thrilled with its new position and that the climbing wall has some new hand grips on it!

Building update!

Final foundation preparation has been completed and next week after Easter, the concrete foundations will be poured. The following week the timber framing will erected so by the time we come back after the school holidays we will see great progress!

Construction is underway

In the last week construction has got underway. The new classroom and administration building was set out and foundations dug. Concrete was poured into the foundations and concrete blocks are beginning to be laid.

Meanwhile the playground is beginning to be re-built in its new location and this is expected to be completed within the week.

St. John's Room has gone overnight!

Late last night St. John's classroom was moved off the site by truck. Tima, our caretaker, got some photos of it going and said that it all happened really fast!

Moving St. John's Room

This week Andrew's Building Removal Company have been preparing to move St. John's classroom from the school site and relocate it to their site in Papakura. This morning the classroom has been positioned closer to Victoria Road ready to start it's new journey during Sunday night.

The Mad Builders!

The clearing of all the debri started today. The aim is for it to be all gone by the end of next week! There has been more great writing today about the demolition.

This is Finn Dowling's (Year 3 in St. Luke's room) fantastic poem.

The Mad Builders

They grind.

They groan.

They drained the happiness out of it.

My heart was punctured.

It looked like little bits of paper

that turned into bricks.

How quickly change can happen!

One day more and the convent has been demolished too! The children have been fascinated by how quickly it has all disappeared! The following are some blogs that children in St. Patrick's room (Year 3&4) have written today after watching the convent tumble down!

The crumbling convent.  Today the monterous digger crashed down the old convent with his hugmungous jaws opening and shutting until the top floor's all gone!       Madison Lockyer

It only took 20 minutes!

The sheds are gone! After the roof was removed this morning, it only took twenty minutes for the diggers to knock the sheds down just before lunch! An exciting time for all! Already you can tell how much more space we have created for the children to play in once the buildling is all completed!
